OBJECTIVES OF THE GLOBAL COUNCIL FOR EDUCATION IN CONGENITAL HEART SURGERY

​The Objectives of the Global Council For Education in Congenital Heart Surgery are directed at improving quality of care for patients throughout the world with Congenital Heart Disease through improved access to well-trained and certified surgeons by:

• Determining current requirements for training in cardiac and congenital cardiac surgery at national, regional and international levels​.
  

• Working in conjunction with the World University for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery (WUPCHS) and the World Society for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery (WSPCHS) to optimize training opportunities and certification methods in cardiac and congenital cardiac surgery at national, regional and international levels.

• Defining optimal and yet realistic goals for training in both cardiac and congenital cardiac surgery at national, regional and international levels​.​​
  

• Providing a resource to facilitate mobility of congenital cardiac surgeons at national, regional and international levels by working with hospital administrators as well as national and regional health authorities.
